King Elementary School

Baila, Baila 2018!

Greetings Galesburg District #205 Family!  Baila, Baila 2018! activities are well underway at King Elementary School.  Currently K-5 Art students at King Elementary School are exploring Latin-Hispanic culture as part of  a Sights & Sounds cultural visual art unit throughout January 2018. Next week - Tuesday, January 16 through Thursday, January 18th King elementary students will participate in a “Sights & Sounds Share Day” during K-5 art classes where art students will have an opportunity to do an art activity, learn a dance, participate in a “taste”, and sing a Spanish greetings song.  In addition to participating in Sights and Sounds “Share Day”, art students will also have an opportunity to create Baila, Baila 2018! folk art projects throughout the month of January.

Listed below are each grades Baila, Baila 2018! folk art projects:

K - Spanish Castanet Instrument Design & Blooming Cactus Collage

1st - Bottle Maraca Instrument Design  & Mixed Media Tree Frog Collage

2nd - Amate Bird Tree Bark Painting & Piranha Drawing

3rd - Mexican Metal Sun Design & Iguana Drawing

4th - Dali Melting Paper Clock & Oaxacan Animal Mixed Media Painting

5th - Peruvian Gold Mask & Milagro Sculpture

Currently, Ancient Egyptian art projects are on display along the long bulletin board by the King Elementary Art Room.

In addition, please mark your calendar for our upcoming Baila, Baila 2018! student art exhibit at the Lincoln Education Center:
